The band was formed in 1999 as an all male band we formed as 'The Thornliebank Loyalists Flute Band' and we then changed to be known as 'Grenadiers Glasgow' then to stay within the rules of the GOLS we then changed our name to our current name 'Grenadiers Rodger Riddell Memorial Flute Band Glasgow' this was so we as a band could carry our memorial flag to remember our special Absent Friends.
